Genkai
Genkai (ゲン会) is the name of the union currently supporting Genki, the prior (and original) one being Kameko. Genkai was founded in May 2010 by the Genksters themselves for the mutual benifit of Genki and Kameko as the con was expanding rapidly and started becoming too large in relation to what Kameko felt comfortable with handling. The two groups however still help out one another.
Purpose
The purpose of the union is to create and host events to strengthen and spread the Danish fanbase for Japanese pop-culture. The biggest of these events is the annual summer convention, Genki, but several smaller events are also held all throughout the year.
Some events held by Genkai are as part of bigger events hosted by other unions, such as their upcoming visit to the Danish comic book convention, Komiks, or sometimes even hosted by the city of Copenhagen.

Name
The name "Genkai" was chosen over the more 'standard' "Genkikai" for its snicker effect, as the Japanese words for e.g. "limit" (限界) and "strange/mysterious and troublesome" (幻怪) are pronounced the same way. The name was originally suggested by Niels M. Hansen as a joke, but was quickly seconded and later became the official name.
