J-Popcon, sometimes spelled J-popcon (without the upper case p), is an annual Danish conventions for anime and Japanese popular culture, which is a gathering point for many fans from Denmark.

J-Popcon started as a casual event in the year 2000, but has since then grown to a stable +1000 attendees and is organized by an unnamed group of organizers with the organization called J-Popkai.

Since its creation, it has been held in the first weekend of November at Valby Kulturhus (with the exception of 2001 and 2002 where J-Popcon was not held). The year 2010 marks the first time J-Popcon moved its date and venue; the date was moved from the first weekend of November to the second weekend of November, and the venue from Valby Kulturhus to the conference halls of DGI Byen.

Cosplay

J-Popcon has hosted a popular cosplay competition every year and has since 2007 also hosted the qualification rounds for the World Cosplay Summit at their venue. The Danish Cosplay summit (a non-related event) was held in 2007, but has not been held since. The qualifications have been the main event of J-Popcons yearly cosplay competition.

Dealer Room

There is a dealer room at J-Popcon that has been housed by mostly Danish and Swedish dealers of anime, manga, and merchandise. Dealer rooms are places where stores are alloted tables and rooms and are allowed to sell swag to guests. In recent years they have aquired a canadian dealer as well as a german dealer and the dealer room at J-Popcon is expected to expand yet again.

Anime Cinema

At J-Popcon there are usually three or four cinemas running and most of the time they show anime. At least one of the cinemas runs 24/7. The cinema tries to enmcompas a wide variety of anime for all age and gender audiences. In the beginning, mostly fansub versions would be shown, but since 2008 there has been a lot of focus on only showing licensed anime.
