Genki 2009 was considered a beta-con by the organizer group, Genksters. Genki was originally intended to debut in August 2010, but a sudden offer from Valby Kulturhus to use their building for free pushed the plans ahead of schedule. The Genksters took the opportunity in order to test out ideas for events and workshops and to get a better feel for making a convention, so that Genki 2010 could become a great success.

Planning

Planning for Genki 2009 began in late March/early April, roughly two months before the con. Due to the tight schedule, the organizer group would have bi-weekly meetings to update eachother on personal progress, discuss ideas, and to plan the con. In addition to that, the main organizers would have almost daily online-meetings; discussing the finer details of the con planning as well as what issues to bring up at the next big group meeting.
