Genki-Man were drawn by Victor Maric Alring, also known as Hecko X or simply Hecko, as a joke to spice up one of the posts on the website for Genki 2009, as they had been lacking pictures for quite a while. People took a liking to the oddly drawn character and he soon became the de facto cartoon representation of the Genksters, albeit without reaching mascot status like Ping and Pong.
