 Genki was originally set to debut in 2010, giving the organizers almost a full 15 months to plan the con, however, a sudden offer by [http://www.kulturhus.kk.dk/valbykulturhus Valby Kulturhus] to use their building for free gave the organizers a chance to organize a beta-con. The beta-con was meant to be a testing ground of sorts for ideas and events with the trade-off being only having two months to organize everything and a limited number of participants (200).
